First Sustainable Supply Chain Conference speakers announced!

First Sustainable Supply Chain Conference speakers announced!

Tóm tắt nội dung

The first three speakers have been announced for Logistics Manager’s Sustainable Supply Chain Conference in London on 25 June 2024.

The conference, which will be held at 30 Euston Square, is a one-day face-to-face event where delegates can hear directly from industry-leading speakers about how business sustainability can influence their bottom line. It is totally free to attend for buyers of logistics services.

The first confirmed speaker is Fiona Coull, senior programme manager at Cross River Partnership (CRP), a public-private, not-for-profit partnership that has been delivering positive change for London’s residents, businesses and visitors for 29 years. CRP delivers a range of projects, all of which aim to improve air quality and make London a nicer place to live. Coull manages CRP’s Smarter Greener Logistics Programme (SGL), that aims to minimise the impact of freight on noise, air quality, traffic and pavement space across London.

Session title: Learnings from the London Light Freight Walking Trial
• Walking freight has high potential to serve the densest areas of the city in particular.
• Consolidation-based walking freight is a relatively untapped market and has strong growth potential.
• Walking freight has both environmental and economic benefits due to decongestion, decarbonisation, improved air quality, reduced noise pollution and reduced road wear.

Returning to speak at the Sustainable Supply Chain Conference for the second year running is Jacquie Silvester, head of sustainability & improvement at The Cotswold Company. Silvester is a sustainability expert, passionate about the environment, who strongly believes change will only come from the bottom up. As head of sustainability & improvement with 15 years’ service at The Cotswold Company, she is keen to promote sustainability not only in line with the company’s strategic goals, but also at a personal level throughout the workforce. With strong values, a moral compass for doing the right thing, and desire for equitable consideration to the whole planet’s needs, Silvester is vocal in encouraging others to adopt this culture, so future generations have the same awe-inspiring wondrous access to nature.

Session title: Sustainability deserves a better ranking on the business strategy
• Why does it matter?
• Risk and opportunity
• Getting the narrative right

Also speaking at the event is Khanh Mach, sustainability specialist at Quorn Foods. Her work covers a wider breadth of sustainability, from environmental to social impacts, and how to encourage colleagues to support the company’s net positive journey. She’s responsible for the company’s entire product carbon footprint portfolio, and the development and implementation of Quorn Foods’ modern slavery statement. Mach also design tools fostering colleagues to infuse sustainability into new product development. Collaborating with her team, she spearheads a colleague group dedicated to advancing sustainability topics, bringing everyone together to help Quorn Foods achieve its net positive ambition by 2030.

Session title: Sustainability can’t exist in silo in a business – how to bring colleagues and partners on this journey
• Why is it important to engage colleagues throughout the business in your sustainability journey?
• How can colleagues feel a part of sustainability progress?
• How can companies collaborate with suppliers/supply chain partners to improve sustainability?

Innovation will continue to drive supply chain sustainability in the years to come. At the Sustainable Supply Chain Conference, delegates will learn how to ‘go green’ throughout their end-to-end operations, discussing topics such as procurement, operations, retirement, data and communication. Overall, the conference will consider the environmental and human impact of products, from cradle to grave.

From raw materials sourcing, production, storage and delivery to every transportation link in-between, the journey is not easy – the complexity of many supplier relationships and border crossings makes supply chain sustainability extremely challenging. But the payback for getting it right is priceless, delivering on the three Ps of the bottom line – people, profits and the planet.

This conference offers a total of 5 CPD hours – accredited by The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport – so that attendees can keep up with their professional development.
