IntraLogisteX USA conference highlight: Fahad Jami from Stanley Black & Decker

Tóm tắt nội dung

IntraLogisteX USA 2024 got underway this morning [22 October], and alongside the exhibition, the day’s conference schedule also kicked off, with expert speakers on two separate stages delivering insightful presentations on a broad range of topics surrounding the supply chain.

One of the highlights of the day was a session delivered by Fahad Jami, senior manager of logistics analytics Stanley Black & Decker. Fahad Jami is a supply chain and logistics leader with more than 15 years of experience in major corporations, including Walmart and Amazon.

Jami is known for his analytical approach and leverages his expertise in data analysis to enhance operational efficiency and improve customer experiences. He drives fulfilment strategy transformations across North and South America. He holds an MBA from the Simon Business School, with a concentration in operations, strategy and analytics.

In his presentation, entitled ‘Last Mile – the toughest mile: its landscape, challenges, and solutions’, Jami stated that fragmented last-mile delivery creates complexities beyond what can be controlled by a company, asserting that “revising innovative solutions is key”.

He noted that “ever-increasing cost with last-mile delivery poses tough challenges for companies vertically or non-vertically integrated and strategic partnership helps solve some of the challenges”.

Additionally, Jami provided insight into what has worked for companies such as Amazon and Walmart, using case studies.

He explained how regionalisation at Amazon has allowed it to see faster delivery times, reduced transportation costs, enhanced supply chain resilience, lower carbon footprint, improved inventory management and scalability.

Sharing a Walmart cast study, Jami explained that a ‘buy online, pick up in store’ (BOPIS) model can “eliminate the need for delivery, thus reducing last-mile costs”. He noted that other benefits include increased foot traffic and customer convenience.

Looking to the future, he added that autonomous delivery robots, micro-fuflilment centres and alternative delivery points are all trends that are set to continue to rise in the last-mile delivery space.

IntraLogisteX USA, America’s fastest-growing warehousing, logistics and supply chain trade show, is taking place at Miami Beach Convention Centre on 22-23 October 2024. There’s still time to get your free ticket – click here to register!
