In a move to bolster its presence across North and South America, Liebherr Group has secured a 480,000ft2 of land in Tupelo, Mississippi, to establish a new logistics distribution centre.
Liebherr’s new logistics centre, set to be located in the Hive Business Park, is poised to become a critical hub for the company’s operations in the Americas. The facility will not only serve as a central point for warehousing and distribution but will also offer value-added services such as pre-assembly, kitting, repackaging, customs and export services. This initiative is expected to create approximately 180 new jobs in the region, boosting the local economy and reportedly reinforcing Liebherr’s commitment to growth in the US market.
As an internal logistics service provider, Liebherr-Logistics GmbH plays a role in supporting various segments of the Liebherr Group, including earthmoving machinery, components, concrete technology, tower cranes and maritime cranes. With a team of over 430 employees, the logistics division currently services over 70 Liebherr sales and service companies worldwide. The new Tupelo site will complement existing facilities in Oberopfingen, Germany, and Born, the Netherlands, further expanding Liebherr’s global logistics capabilities.
Liebherr’s vision extends beyond logistics. The company has plans to transform the Tupelo site into a campus, hosting various business units from different product segments. This future development will involve a significant investment of over US$200 million (c. £156m), with the goal of creating an additional 300 jobs over the long term. The campus will house advanced facilities for product development and innovation.
