At IntraLogisteX USA taking place today [22 October 2024] and tomorrow at the Miami Beach Convention Center, White Intelligent Storage is displaying its range of vertical lift modules (VLMs) and visitors to Stand 310 can hear all about how this technology can deliver cost savings.
Dustin Walker, vice president of White Intelligent Storage described VLMs as “automated storage systems designed to optimise space by using vertical storage”.
He explained: “They significantly reduce the physical footprint required for inventory and tools while speeding up retrieval times. By reclaiming valuable floor space and streamlining inventory handling, VLMs directly contribute to both hard and soft cost savings, resulting in a faster ROI. This makes VLMs a critical tool for improving operational efficiency in manufacturing and maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) settings.
“VLMs offer tangible ROI through hard cost savings by reducing storage space requirements and enhancing inventory accuracy, leading to lower overhead costs. Additionally, soft cost savings are realised through improved workflow efficiency, reduced downtime and decreased labour efforts in searching for items.
“By enhancing both the physical layout and productivity, VLMs address key cost areas that affect the bottom line, making them a valuable investment for organisations aiming to maximise ROI from automation.”
Speaking to Logistics Manager at IntraLogisteX USA, Sam Russell, account manager at White Intelligent Storage, elaborated on the benefits of such a system: “A lot of our clients that are interested in this kind of technology are trying to save space in their facilities. [With this system] we can condense down the space footprint by about 90% in these buildings.”
He explained that this kind of technology “not only saves space but also enhances productivity”.
Being demonstrated at Stand 310 is the Compact Twin Vertical Lift Module, which has the ability carry two trays simultaneously, which Russell noted “eliminates a lot of the dead time between picks”.
Russell said that he has had some “good conversations” with visitors at IntraLogisteX USA today and this year being the inaugural event in the USA, he hopes the show will continue to grow over the next year and beyond.
