Logistics Manager announces panellists for exclusive sessions at IntraLogisteX

Tóm tắt nội dung

Logistics Manager is proud to announce the names of the industry experts taking part in panel discussions at the co-located IntraLogisteX, Robotics and Automation, and Sustainable Supply Chain exhibitions on 19-20 March 2024 at the NEC, Birmingham.

Both of Logistics Manager’s panel discussions are 50 minutes long, will feature a Q&A session at the end and are to be hosted by a member of Logistics Manager’s editorial team. They are taking place on the second day of the exhibition, Wednesday 20 March.

The first panel discussion will kick off the second day of the conference agenda for the IntraLogisteX Theatre. Hosted by Logistics Manager editor Emily Uwemedimo, this session is entitled: “Navigating complexity: strategies for a resilient supply chain“. This will start at 10:00am.

Topics discussed will include labour shortages and talent acquisition challenges, global bottlenecks and supply chain disruptions, and equipment availability issues.

Speaking on the sessions, Uwemedimo said: “The supply chain faces multifaceted challenges demanding innovative solutions and strategic foresight.

“This session aims to delve into industry challenges to equip attendees with actionable insights for a resilient supply chain ecosystem.”

Lewe Goldmann, supply chain and operations director at hair styling tool manufacturer CLOUD NINE, is the first confirmed panellist for this session. Throughout his employment at Kuehne+Nagel, Wayfair and High Street TV, Lewe Goldmann has managed a number of complex supply chains and worked with multiple global freight forwarders, 3PLs, and B2B as well as B2C delivery companies in the UK and across Europe.

In his current role as supply chain and operations director at CLOUD NINE, Goldmann’s responsibility and geographical reach have expanded and he oversees and manages the global supply chain as well as compliance, returns, and customer experience.

Goldmann also spoke at the 2023 Sustainable Supply Chain Conference, sharing insight into how companies can ‘minimise the financial cost of meeting net zero goals’.

Also on the panel for this session is Steve Davies, director of operations at jewellery manufacturer Abbott Lyon. He is a proven senior executive leader with experience scaling businesses and developing high-performing international teams across supply chain, logistics, warehousing, quality management, product management, customer service, customer experience and HR.

Davies has been involved in the development of a scalable operating model for Abbott Lyon, fulfilling c. 1 million shipments per year and supporting hundreds of thousands of customer contacts annually.

The second and final panel discussion from Logistics Manager entitled “Biofuels: the future of fleet?“, will begin at 11:40am at the Sustainable Supply Chain Exhibition Theatre.

This session will be hosted by Logistics Manager’s assistant editor James McLoughlin. Explaining the focus of the discussion, McLoughlin said: “As most modern businesses prioritise reducing emissions and improving sustainability in their future strategies, a critical conversation has emerged about the fate of fleets in logistics and the supply chain.

“While discussions about electric vehicles and hydrogen as a fuel source dominate the industry, one strategy that is often overlooked is the adoption of biofuels.

“This panel discussion will explore different biofuels, how they compare to other fuel sources and how fleets of the future will likely be fuelled.”

Confirmed on the panel for this session is Dr Lorenzo Bruno Prataviera, lecturer in logistics and supply chain management at Cranfield University. He also serves as deputy course director for the full-time MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

Prataviera holds a PhD in management, economics, and industrial engineering from Politecnico di Milano in Italy. His main research interests concern global supply chain design and supply chain sustainability, with several contributions in leading academic journals such as “Journal of Business Logistics”, “Supply Chain Management: an International Journal”, “International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management” and “International Journal of Logistics Management”.

McLoughlin spoke to Prataviera on the topic of green logistics in the October 2023 issue of Logistics Manager. Click here to read the full story and find out what he had to say about balancing cost and sustainability in modern supply chains.

Sharing his firsthand expertise on biofuel adoption within road transport fleets, Martin Cole, logistics development manager at Screwfix, is another exciting addition to this panel. Having joined Kingfisher as part of its undergraduate scheme, Cole has 25 years’ experience working across B&Q and Screwfix in a variety of business functions including commercial, retail operations, property, new market development, supply chain, returns and logistics.

For the last eight years, he has specialised in logistics strategy and development, delivering a variety of strategic projects including the opening of three new distribution centres, process productivity enhancements and championing the decarbonisation of the Screwfix logistics network.

In August 2023, Wincanton and Screwfix announced that 85% of the Screwfix logistics fleet now refuels with HVO, so Cole will be sharing his thoughts and experience with the adoption of biofuels in road transport fleets.

They will be joined by Dr Polina Webb, sustainability principal – GHG reduction, research and reporting lead at the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). She leads research activities to deliver policy options to the government around greenhouse gas reduction. This includes conventional, low-carbon and sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).

Webb is the CAA’s SAF focal point: she coordinates the CAA SAF knowledge exchange group; she also supports the UK Jet Zero strategy through research into further GHG reduction through operational improvements. Previously, she has worked at the Aerospace Technology Institute and supported delivery of FlyZero. She has over 10 years’ experience working as an engineer and research and technology programme manager at Rolls-Royce and in academia. Because of this, Webb is perfectly positioned to provide insight into the decarbonisation of air cargo logistics.

These panel discussions are part of much wider conference agendas, spanning three different stages. Across all three exhibitions, the event is expected to welcome 250+ exhibitors, 60+ expert speakers and 8,000+ attendees.

Keep an eye out on the Logistics Manager website and on Twitter and LinkedIn to stay up-to-date with all announcements regarding these panels, the conference sessions and the exhibition in general.
