Meet the judges of the Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2024: retail spotlight

Tóm tắt nội dung

Following the release of the shortlist for the 2024 edition of the Supply Chain Excellence Awards, Logistics Manager is providing a look behind the curtain at some of the industry experts that will be deliberating shortlisted entries for the 2024 Supply Chain Excellence Awards.

This piece will put a spotlight on some of the judges with extensive experience of the retail sector. Click here to read the first part of this series, focusing on experts in the food and drink sector, and look out more stories like this to come.

First in the spotlight is Alison Muir, head of procurement at Selfridges. With over 25 years of experience in the procurement arena, Muir has worked in a number of sectors – brewing, logistics, packaging and latterly helping retailers transform their approach to buying goods not for resale. This extensive experience means that there is not much she hasn’t been involved in buying over the years.

Having worked in logistics and having subsequently been involved in a number of initiatives to buy both warehousing and transport services, Muir is ideally placed to use this experience to judge the Supply Chain Excellence Awards.

Also judging the 2024 awards entries is Simon Finch, supply chain director at Harrods. In this role, he is responsible for delivering Harrods’ omnichannel supply chain and distribution operations.

He believes strongly in collaboration and works closely with both partners and suppliers to deliver improvements across the end-to-end supply chain.

Finch is passionate about driving sustainability and social benefits through supply chains and he recently completed the Sustainable Supply Chain Management course at the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership.

The third and final judge in today’s preview is Karen Hopkinson, head of supply chain and logistics at Nisa Retail. Hopkinson has over 25 years’ experience across the retail, wholesale, logistics and supply chain sectors. She has worked for Coop/Nisa for eight years, joining as a regional manager for the North West and Midlands before moving across to leadership roles in logistics and supply chain.

She started in her current role as head of supply chain and logistics at Nisa in May 2023. Formerly she worked in hospitality, retail and convenience for Total, Iceland, Welcome Break and Morrisons. Hopkinson is passionate about promoting diversity across the sector and supporting up and coming talent.
