Serbian logistics firm introduces automated tray sorter from DistriSort

Serbian logistics firm introduces automated tray sorter from DistriSort

Tóm tắt nội dung

Intralogistics solutions provider DistriSort has integrated a Cross Tray Sorter from Eurosort to automate sortation processes for Logistar, the third-party logistics provider (3PL) of SportVision in Serbia.

The automated sortation system has two induction areas and is equipped with internal conveyors, a Value Added Services (VAS) area and end-of-line sorting conveyors.

DistriSort provided a turnkey solution, with the sorter reportedly capable of managing multiple logistic flows within a single system. This includes inbound goods, outbound good and returns sorting, DistriSort has said.

The company added that the total sorter capacity is 7,500 items per hour, with its more than 100 chutes allowing Logistar to fulfil orders to more than 250 shops in Eastern Europe.

Once inbound articles arrive at the warehouse to be sorted, orders are then picked in waves from the warehouse, with items then being brought to one of two induction areas.

Orders are then loaded onto conveyors to provide a continuous flow of goods for the induction operators, with items being scanned manually or automatically.

The new Cross Tray Sorter can handle a variety of items, from clothing and sports items to shoe boxes, according to DistriSort.

Empty cartons are also pushed beneath the sorter for reuse, with no-reads accordingly being moved onto a conveyor for return to the operator.

The operator can then manually scan the articles for sorting; the sorter comes with a SCADA and wave manager to enable users full control over the system.

It is also equipped with both inside and outside functions, which DistriSort explained is to afford it the lowest possible footprint and most efficient use of floorspace.

Items are manually scanned into cartons, with Logistar’s scanners being linked directly to the WMS.

Full cartons are pushed off underneath the sorter and travel to the VAS (Value Added Services) area, where eight stations add shipping labels and content lists to the full carton.

Once items have been processed in the VAS area, full cartons travel to the end-of-line sorter where they are sorted per carrier and loaded onto pallets, before shipping out to the end customer.

DistriSort will be exhibiting at Stand 312 at the UK’s biggest exhibition dedicated to logistics and warehousing, IntraLogisteX. The event will be held on 19-20 March 2024 at the NEC Birmingham. Register to attend now!
