Wincanton Group has announced its acquisition of Invar Group Limited.
Through the integration of Invar’s automated solutions, driven by its proprietary software, the Invar Warehousing Software, Wincanton shared in a statement that the agreement represents a milestone in its strategic vision to accelerate the deployment of robotics and automation solutions, pushing warehouse efficiency to unparalleled heights.
The acquisition builds upon a longstanding collaboration between Wincanton and Invar, marked by successful warehouse automation projects in recent years. With Invar operating as a standalone entity within the Wincanton Group, continuity remains paramount as Invar’s existing team continues to serve its diverse clientele across multiple markets.
James Wroath, CEO of Wincanton, expressed enthusiasm for the acquisition, citing it as a transformative step towards positioning Wincanton as a premier integrator of automation and robotics solutions. He emphasised: “The Invar team is a great cultural fit, with a pedigree in developing and integrating best-in-class solutions. The combination of this, alongside Wincanton’s deep customer partnerships and operational expertise, will enable us to deliver more value, faster, for our customers.”
Daniel Porte, Wincanton’s strategy director, hailed the acquisition as a significant innovation milestone, reinforcing Wincanton’s strategic directive to enhance supply chain value through technology adoption.
Craig Whitehouse, MD of Invar, echoed the sentiment of excitement, emphasising the strategic alignment between Invar and Wincanton. “From the considerable interest shown in our business, we selected a partner that clearly offered the best long-term future for Invar and its people. Wincanton, with its deep resources and wealth of knowledge of the logistics sector, makes a perfect strategic partner for Invar – where our synergies on technology and automation align for a bright future.”
On Thursday 29 February, the board of GXO Logistics announced the cash offer for the Wincanton.
